As a recognized zoo, the Vogelburg has set itself the task of raising awareness among the many private parrot owners of the need for species-appropriate housing and keeping of these highly sensitive birds.
Over time, the bird castle has increasingly become an asylum, a place of refuge and a retirement home for privately kept parrots. Here the birds can lead a fulfilled life until the end of their lives, find a partner and, if necessary, raise offspring.
